Hence Turkey has no reason to keep border with Armenia closed – Armenia’s FM

The situation is indeed very complicated, and Armenia’s purpose is to do everything for the security atmosphere between Armenia and Artsakh be reinforced gradually, Armenia’s FM Ara Aivazian stated at the NA today.

“It is not an easy issue as it is a general reflection of the geopolitical situation. We must try to exert all our efforts to reach de-escalation of the situation that will result in the reinforcement of security atmosphere over Armenia,” the minister said.

Referring to the military drills in Kars, the FM said they do raise certain concerns.

“We see different messages coming from Turkey. In diplomacy it is accepted to address one another through different messages but taking into account Turkey’s circumstance I think the time has come not to be guided by messages but first of all by actions,” Aivazian said.

He noted that there is no reason anymore to keep Armenia in blockade.

“As we know it was agreed with Artsakh’s status quo which has changed after the use of force. Turkey hence has no reason to keep border with Armenia closed. At this moment no activities are taking place,” he said.
