Trade turnover between Armenia and Turkey takes place today – My Step deputy
The 21 kilometer of Goris-Kapan road sector passes out of the internationally recognized Armenian borders – through Azerbaijan’s territory – but it has not been closed for a second, My Step deputy Hayk Gevorgyan said at parliamentary briefing today.
“It is not about certain agreements, it is a result of arrangements that this road sector must function and it does function. Azerbaijanis have not closed it for a second,” Gevorgyan said.
As to the trade turnover among Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan and the possible risks, Gevorgyan said the issue is being manipulated a lot.
“There is a trade between Armenia and Turkey today too. Irrespective whether we have diplomatic relations or not, what psychological position we have toward this country, the trade takes place. As to the officially opening of the borders and what may happen, first of all Armenia is EAEU member state and Armenia’s borders are EAEU borders. While crossing the Armenian border the Turkish product must meet EAEU obstacles, customs restrictions,” he said.
Other member of the faction Sisak Gabrielyan said as of the moment the negotiations among Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan do not relate to trade turnover either with Turkey or Azerbaijan.
