Yerevan court rules arrest for ex-head of NA staff Ara Saghatelyan
Yerevan court of general jurisdiction chaired by judge Armine Meliksetyan upheld the NSS petition to arrest former head of the NA staff Ara Saghatelyan.
Attorney Hakob Yenokyan said they have not received the decision yet but stressed that they will immediately appeal it upon receiving.
“There is no single fact proving that Ara Saghatelyan reached arrangement with any people to set up a group. The court should have either referred that the organized group has not been established with which the accusation would have “eliminated” and the basic suspicion would not have been substantiated or it should have referred to concrete facts and mention which fact relates to substantiation of which crime for making substantiated judicial act,” Yenokyan said.
Saghatelyan’s other attorney Mihran Poghosyan said that there is no jurisprudence in this case but some persons must appear in jail due to caprices of certain people.
“The NSS allegedly shows a revelation [of crime] for the public which does not correspond to reality and as of the moment we have two persons unlawfully deprived of freedom,” Mihran Poghosyan said.
