Yerevan court rules to free Karen Bekaryan
Yerevan court of general jurisdiction headed by judge Vardan Grigoryan rejected the petition of NSS to arrest political analyst, co-founder of Quartet Media Karen Bekaryan.
Aysor.am learnt about it from Bekaryan’s attorney Gor Mikayelyan.
At the same time the court considered Bekaryan’s detention unlawful, upholding the defender’s appeal.
The NSS searched offices of Saghatelyan and Bekaryan, as well as Azerologist Anzhela Elibegova and constitutionalist Gohar Meloyan, seized their phones and computers and apprehended them.
Elibegova and Meloyan were later released while Karen Bekaryan, Ara Saghatelyan, Mher Avagyan and Aram Sargsyan were arrested, the latter has been jailed.
With the decisions of courts Mher Avagyan was released while Ara Saghatelyan was arrested for two months.
His attortney stated that they will apeal the decision after receiving the ruling.
