Attorneys of political prisoner Ara Saghatelyan apply to Armenia’s Ombudsman (Pastinfo)

The attorneys of the former head-secretary general of the NA staff Ara Saghatelyan applied to the Human Rights Defender, Hakob Yenokyan, attorney told Pastinfo.

The attorney said that they applied to the Ombudsman on the day of Saghatelyan’s arrest drawing his attention to the unlawful process.

Representative of the Ombudsman’s office visited Ara Saghatelyan in custody.

The NSS searched offices of Ara Saghatelyan and Karen Bekaryan, as well as Azerologist Anzhela Elibegova and constitutionalist Gohar Meloyan, seized their phones and computers and apprehended them.

Elibegova and Meloyan were later released while Karen Bekaryan, Ara Saghatelyan, citizen Mher Avagyan and Aram Sargsyan were detained.

With the decisions of courts Mher Avagyan and Karen Bekaryan were released while Ara Saghatelyan was arrested for two months.

To note, Ara Saghatelyan for years had active role in the information war against Azerbaijan making the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan available to the international media.
