Russian Duma representative describes Pashinyan’s statement on Iskander as “absolute lie”
Statement of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was an attempt to emphasize his innocence in the outcome of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
This was stated by the deputy chairman of the Defense Committee of Russian State Duma Viktor Zavarzin in an interview to “Govorit Moskva” radio station.
The remark came following the statement of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that the used Iskander did not explode or exploded by 10%.
The PM made the statement in response to the one made by Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan who in his recent interview stated that the Armenian side should have used Iskander on the fourth day of Karabakh war.
“When a person seeks to be innocent he will tie it with Iskander, will say the Armenian people are guilty, the militaries are guilty. But of course, it does not correspond to reality. Our Iskanders are very precision weapons, they appeared on several occasions in different drills. It is an absolute lie [Pashinyan’s words] and is beyond any doubt. No wonder the West often tells us to bring these short-range missiles to the process of negotiations. In Syria they were used accurately and repeatedly. To put it mildly, I will not agree with this opinion of Mr Pashinyan,” Zavarzin said.
