Azerbaijan artificially protracts exchange of captives – Armenia’s representative to ECHR

Armenia’s representative in the ECHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan and head of the office of Armenia’s representative in the ECHR Liparit Drmeyan met with the ambassadors of Lithuania, Sweden and Poland to Armenia.

The ambassadors were briefed on the gross violations of human rights by Azerbaijan during the 44-day war unleashed by that country.

The interlocutors also referred to the steps taken by the office of the representative relating the violation of rights of prisoners of war and captured civilians.

Kirakosyan stressed that since the war they have submitted numerous applications to the European Court on applying interim measure to protect the rights of captured people.

It has been emphasized that the Azerbaijani side artificially protracts the process of exchange of captives and bodies of killed.

During the meeting the participants also discussed the results and further steps of the commission set up to work on constitutional amendments.

The ambassadors offered their support in the process of possible future implementation of constitutional reforms.
