Armenia’s president urges all show sobriety and restraint, says undertakes urgent steps to ease the tension
Not having overcome the consequences of the war unleashed against Artsakh and having thousands of casualties and wounded, facing serious regional threats, we again appeared in extremely explosive situation that may have unpredictable consequences for our state and the statehood and may result in irreversible losses, says the statement released by Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian.
“Martial law is declared in the country. The external danger is real – the statement on ceasefire is not a peace treaty. The challenges Armenia and Artsakh are facing are numerous. I urge everyone - state bodies, power structures, political forces, all the citizens show restraint and common sense – every unbalanced word or action raises the tension and deepens the crisis more, not yield to provocations and refrain from hate and intolerance speech. Our people cannot allow ourselves splitting, we must deny any attempts of destabilization of the state endangering the statehood, unconditionally act in the sidelines of the Constitution,” the president said in the statement, adding that he is undertaking urgent steps to ease the tension and find peaceful ways of solution of the situation.
“Leading the country to shocks will be a disrespect to the memory of our thousands sons killed in the war,” the president said in the statement urging all to show sobriety and restraint.
