Armenian Armed Forces demand PM and government's resignation
The General Staff of Armenian Armed Forces expressed its strong protest on sacking the first Deputy Chief of General Staff "with short-sighted and unfounded reasons without taking into consideration the national and state interests of the Republic of Armenia and basing only on personal and ambitious feelings".
This was said in the statement released by the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces.
“Such decision made in such complicated situation the country is in is anti-state and irresponsible step. The RA Prime Minister and the government are hence unable to make adequate decisions in this critical and fatal situation for the Armenian people,” the statement said, adding that for a long time they were patiently tolerating the attacks of the incumbent authorities aimed at discrediting the armed forces but “everything has its limits”.
“The Armenian Armed Forces carried out its duty with honor and fought against the enemy shoulder to shoulder with the people. The ineffective management of the incumbent authorities and the serious mistakes in the foreign policy brought the country to the edge of collapse. Agreed with the created situation the Armenian Armed Forces are demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister and the government, warning at the same time to refrain from using force against people whose sons died while protecting the Homeland and Artsakh. The army has always been with the people, like people have always been with the army,” the statement said.
It was signed by the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan, his deputies, heads of departments and other staff.
