US Embassy in Armenia urges clarifications on whereabouts of Boeing 737
The United States has called for clarifications on the whereabouts of the Boeing 737 aircraft, which made a landing on the territory of Iran instead of the Republic of Armenia.
“The US government is aware of claims that an aircraft registered to an Armenian company was diverted to Iran. We urge all relevant parties to immediately clarify the whereabouts and status of this aircraft. US law prohibits the transfer or otherwise provision of aircraft or aviation parts of U.S. origin to Iran. Entities that engage in these actions could expose themselves to U.S. sanctions,” the US Embassy in Yerevan said in a written statement today in response to Tert.am’s request for comments.
Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee issued a statement earlier stating that it knows where the plane is and is closely cooperating with the aviation leadership of the related states.
The Committee promised to provide additional information on the matter.
