Authorities should not expect opposition vote for the new Electoral Code it doesn’t approve – Bright Armenia head
Authorities say they want snap elections but there is a need to vote for the Electoral Code it formed, Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan told the reporters at the NA today.
“And we say, brother, we were very constructive and our deputies worked in the group very constructively. They offered open proportional list,” Marukyan said, adding that they have offered not territorial rating system but an open one.
He said their proposal was not accepted with the ruling power deputies saying that they want full proportional electoral system.
“While we say that in that case the provincial representation will be left out of the new parliament as the majority of elites of all the political forces are mainly from Yerevan. It will become Yerevan parliament,” he said, adding that in December when they were offered snap elections they were to pass by the acting legislation.
“We either head to snap elections with the acting legislation or if they want to do it with their legislation they must hastily vote and adopt it and not expect the opposition, which is against this legislation, vote for it,” he said, stressing that the code offered by them contains shameful provisions.
