Karabakh rather difficult operation – Russian DM
Turkey’s membership to NATO impeded joint work of Moscow and Ankara, nevertheless, it may be described as effective, Russia’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu said in an interview to Kazakh portal tengrinews.kz.
“If to speak about the relations with Turkey, we have rather difficult but effective work. Joint work. Difficult because it is being impeded, Turkey’s being member of NATO impedes it as well. I would even call it a unique experience when one country is in NATO and the other is not. They find common language, carry out joint work, joint operations, find compromises where it seems impossible. But we find variants for solution,” Shoygu said.
“The last work certainly is Nagorno Karabakh. It is a very difficult operation. This is the way I would prefer to call it and in no other way. Because a huge volume of arguments, elements, motives were engaged in it,” Shoygu said, adding that it is very hard when [Russia’s] two fraternal peoples, two neighbors with who they lived and will continue living in peace and friendship fight with one another.
Shoygu also stated that Russia and Turkey continue joint patrolling on north-east of Syria.
