Armenia’s PM does not care about judicial power’s documents: Onik Gasparyan’s lawyer

The Administrative court made its decision and it is obligatory for all, Artur Hovhannisyan, lawyer of Onik Gasparyan, told Aysor.am asked to comment on today’s statement of the Armenian government that Artak Davtyan has become Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Forces with the force of law.

“When the prime minister makes such a statement he simply says – I don’t care about the documents of judicial power in our country,” Hovhannisyan said.

He stressed that the consequences of this statement of the government are criminal and administrative, and the relevant reports about crime will be submitted to the relevant bodies.

“We will advance with relevant procedures, we will take steps and soon we will inform the public about the results, but what happens now is unacceptable, it is not proper for legal state, we can no more speak about rule of law,” he said.

The lawyer stressed that the executive power does not care about documents of the judicial power.

“With our deep conviction the same will be with the snap elections. The elections will be rigged and if people decide to restore their rights judicially, the consequences will be the same, they will not take them into consideration,” he said.

Hovhannisyan said that today’s statement should not have been made.

He said certain procedures should have been done for Onik Gasparyan to assume his commitments in accordance with the judicial act.

“It was not done. It is abuse of power,” the lawyer said.
