Changing Electoral Code now to put under doubt legitimacy of snap elections – Bright Armenia deputy
Changing Electoral Code now is unacceptable, member of Bright Armenia faction Gevorg Gorgisyan told the reporters today.
He said no arrangement has been reached over it but it has been supposed that they are moving forward with the rules of the acting game.
Gorgisyan said no other thing may be done in this short period of time.
The deputy noted that an arrangement has been reached to conduct snap elections on June 20.
He said if the rules of the game are changed they will breach the arrangement.
Gorgisyan said that the change of the legislation may result in serious issues and changing it now will put under doubt the legitimacy of the elections.
“Nikol Pashinyan wants the citizens elect prime minister, prime minister appoint deputies with who he walked and drank coffee. We want to have politician deputies, Pashinyan wants to have button pushing deputies,” Gorgisyan said.
The deputy said they are suggesting having open proportional list for the citizen to send the politician he/she wants from the list suggested by the party to parliament.
He said with the closed proportional list a Yerevan parliament will be formed as the lists will comprise only party’s elite or will be made by leaders of the parties.
