Armenia’s parliament speaker suggests voting for lifting martial law
Armenia’s parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan suggested the parliament back the initiative of the opposition factions Bright Armenia and Prosperous Armenia to lift the martial law in the country.
Mirzoyan noted that as far as the political forces reached arrangement on resolving the domestic political situation in the country by conduction of snap parliamentary elections it would be right not to wait for government’s initiative and tomorrow morning vote for lifting the martial law.
Snap elections cannot be conducted in conditions of martial law. The elections are scheduled for June 20. The martial law was established in Armenia on September 27, 2020 after Azerbaijan unleashed war against Artsakh.
