Misinformation about handing Tavush regions halts investment programs – governor
The situation on Tavush borders is calm, governor of the province Hayk Chobanyan told the reporters today.
“We do not discuss any border changes, we have no such information,” he said.
As to the visit of Russian servicemen to the province, the governor said it is of permanent nature and is agreed with the functions of Ministry of Defense.
“I will ask you to apply to Ministry of Defense for the rest issues,” Chobanyan said.
He claimed that no territories from Tavush will be handed over.
“I exclude the handing over of regions of Tavush province. If there is a threat on the border of Tavush province I will be the first one to stand there and neutralize the danger,” the governor said.
The governor also noted that the statements about handing over Tavush regions affect the investment environment in the province.
“We have investors now who suspended their activity after such statements. We have very big investment project in cattle-breeding sector costing 4 million USD. This program has been suspended. We were almost in the phase of solving the issue but after such talks the program was halted and the investors asked for time to say whether they will continue or not,” the governor said, adding that they have applied to court for the people disseminating such misinformation understand the responsibility.
He said he was speaking about former premier Hrant Bagratyan after the statement of who different publications followed.
