Biden’s Administration closer to recognition of Armenian Genocide – expert
U.S. President Joe Biden’s Administration is closer to recognition of the Armenian Genocide, expert in international affairs Suren Sargsyan said speaking to Aysor.am.
“Taking into account the favorable environment for the recognition of the Genocide – the situation in the U.S. domestic political, foreign political fields, the Turkish-American relations – it is a fact that Biden’s administration is closer to it,” Sargsyan said.
As to the impact the recognition of the Genocide will have on Armenia, Sargsyan said that it is important to realize that it was the promise Biden gave to his Armenian voters.
“This promise was not given to the Republic of Armenia or the whole Armenians, it was given to his voters. Naturally, the first addresses and the demanders are the ethnic Armenians living in the USA,” Sargsyan said.
The expert said if Biden recognizes the Armenian Genocide it may become a problem in Turkish-American relations.
“We must do our best to use this historic chance and advance in the process of recognition of the Genocide,” he said.
