My Step deputy stresses need of adopting amendments to Electoral Code and refusing the rating system
Armenia’s parliament discusses today the bill on making amendments in the Electoral Code.
“The rating system has always been subject of criticism both by political forces and NGOs, expertise circles and from the moment of introducing this system there was a public demand to change it,” My Step deputy Vahagn Hovakimyan who presents the bill said at the NA.
He said from the very beginning there was a wide consensus among the political forces on conducting election in proportional system only.
“This is the very phase we must adopt the amendments and refuse the rating lists. We all have consent in this issue,” he said.
Hovakimyan also stressed that the amendments offer relevant legal grounds to organize electoral process in accordance with the quarantine conditions.
