Offered variant to mean having deputies for simply pressing buttons – Bright Armenia insists on having open proportional system

Bright Armenia claim that Armenia needs open proportional electoral system which promotes democracy, formation of political elites by the citizens, establishment of parties.

“The citizens are deprived of the opportunity to elect their representative in the NA which will result in bad consequences. We will have National Assembly of those pressing buttons. This is why we are offering open proportional list,” deputy of the faction Gevorg Gorgisyan said today, adding that during the discussions they even made concessions from the preliminary proposal trying to find a consensus option acceptable for the majority as well.

“The majority has many times stated that there is an opportunity to adopt this variant with consensus. This variant too was sent to the Venice Commission for which we are grateful, but it was a delusion of putting soft pillow that there is such opportunity but we will never use it,” Gorgisyan said.

He said according to the polls, 60% of the citizens want to have their representative in the NA.
