Hraparak: Authorities waiting for opinion of the Venice Commission
Hraparak paper writes that the Armenian parliament will convene today special session to discuss the amendments in the Electoral Code.
The paper says it will be discussed in 24-hour regime which means that in a day it will be clear in what system the snap parliamentary elections will pass.
Citing its sources close to authorities, the paper says besides quitting the rating regime the authorities will also try to change the threshold for parties and blocs to pass to the parliament.
The paper says in case of parties they want to reduce it to 4% and in case of blocs raise to 8%.
The paper says it is not excluded that wide-range amendments be adopted in a month but with condition that they will enter into force from 2022.
Hraparak notes that currently the authorities are waiting for the opinion of the Venice Commission which, according to information, will be received after April 20.
Eighty votes are necessary for the bill to pass.
