Armenia, Russia’s interests coincide by 90% - ex-ambassador

Today Armenia does not have resource for war, Armenia has no alternative to peace, Nikol Pashinyan’s proposal is not peace but capitulation, shame and defeat are different things, we were not defeated, we were betrayed and shamed, ex-ambassador of Armenia to Vatican Mikayel Minasyan said in an interview to Armnews TV Channel.

“My assessment about Artsakh is the following – we were defeated because we were betrayed, consequently we were ashamed. We cannot remain ashamed country, we must start works on dignified peace for it we must chose on what center we rely on,” he said.

Minasyan stressed that it is necessary to understand whose interests coincide with the interests of our country, find, build and move forward.

“I will immediately say that today it is Moscow, there is no alternative to it, no matter who says what, they lie, but even today in relations with Moscow Armenia is in defeatist status,” the ex-ambassador said.

Minasyan stressed that he is for fraternal relations with Russia.

“I am for dignified fraternity. It is work too, it is diplomacy too. Today we must bring back our good starting positions first of all in Moscow,” he said.

“The interests of Armenia and Russia coincide by 90%. I am speaking about today, I don’t know what will happen in five years, but it is a diplomatic art, professionalism too to do in a way the interests of your main ally always go in tune with your interests,” Minasyan said.
