Aliyev says Azerbaijan has no military plans on Armenia’s border
Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev stated that Baku does not have military plans on the border with Armenia.
“You asked what will happen after Russian peacekeeping contingent leaves the region. We have borders with Armenia in Tovuz and Zangelan. Our border guards are in close proximity to the Armenian side. Do incidents occur? No, they don’t. There is no Armenian army, it has been demoralized, our troops are standing five-meters away. But we do not have any military plans,” Aliyev said at the “New Glance in the South Caucasus: Post-Conflict Development and Cooperation” conference.
He added that the issues and plans on modernization of Armenian army in collaboration with Russia raise questions.
“We have explained our position to Russian partners. What for is it being done? Any ideas about revenge will be severely suppressed,” Aliyev said.
