Criminal case filed against president of Armenia’s Supreme Judicial Council
Criminal case has been filed against president of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan.
Speaking to Aysor.am Vardazaryan said he don’t want to comment on the matter.
“I am not giving any comments, sorry,” Vardazaryan said.
According to the law, before filing a case the investigating body must receive the consent of the SJC.
Member of the Council Grigor Bekmezyan told Aysor.am that the investigating body has not received the consent of the SJC.
“As far as I understood from the writ sent to us, it is not filed for functional matter, which means that in this case the consent of the prosecutor’s office is not necessary,” Bekmezyan said.
He said he has not get familiarized thoroughly with the materials of the case and learnt about it yesterday evening, thus he cannot yet claim whether it is a pressure on SJC president or not.
“It will not be professional for me to comment, in any case the Council will respond,” Bekmezyan said.
