Armenia’s authorities should be attentive to Turkey’s skillfully prepared hidden trap – expert
The Armenian authorities should be very sober not to fall into the political trap prepared by the Turkish authorities, expert in Turkish sciences Ruben Melkonyan said at the “Armenia and Turkey in the South Caucasus: Realities and Risks” conference today referring to the developments over Kars treaty.
He quoted the words of deputy PM Tigran Avinyan who in one of the interviews said that border guards would temporary be deployed until the demarcation which will take place after establishment of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and Turkey.
“If to come to conclusion the establishment of bilateral relations with Turkey supposes another demand – pre-condition from the Turkish side. The thing they did in 1973 and what they tried to do in 2009. That is to say they will try to present to Armenia a hidden demand of recognition or re-recognition of Kars treaty which from real-political perspective will seem non-implementable but we should view the issue from other viewpoint. Turkey has forwarded three pre-conditions to Armenia. It partially reached the implementation of the first pre-condition. It is the hidden danger which will lead to the implementation of the second Turkish pre-condition. This is of huge importance for Turkey as Armenia, accepting another pre-condition, will record its defeat,” the expert said.
Melkonyan said the authorities may accept his words as a call to pay attention to the skillfully prepared trap by Turkey and all other consequences.
