Armenia to build strong army with Russia’s assistance – SCS

Armenian side expects to build a strong army with Russia’s assistance, Armenia’s Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan said in an interview to Russian RIA Novosti.

He said Yerevan has already stated that the reforms in the Armenian armed forces will be implemented with Russia’s assistance.

“From our viewpoint the reforms in Russian Armed Forces are one of the most succeeded ones – army upgrading and optimization, raise of efficiency, application of automatized management system, modern weapon – all this helped Russia to keep on having one of the strongest army in the world,” Grigoryan said, expressing conviction that with Russia’s assistance Armenia will pass the way and will build strong Armenian army.

As to acquiring weapons, Grigoryan said that Armenia will acquire the best weapon.

“At the same time we are planning to intensively develop Armenia’s military-industrial complex,” the SCS said.
