Armenia’s second president describes Armenia’s defeat in war “as planned”
The answers to the questions about the war will be received after June 21, Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan said at the meeting with his supporters.
“We must understand what else is there under the statement of the generals of the General Staff, because when you read this statement, you feel that they all have a lot to say,” he said.
Kocharyan said what happened was a planned defeat.
He said Armenia must use all its possible diplomatic ties to increase pressure on Azerbaijan to return the captives.
He said he believes that Azerbaijan keeps the captives with some expectations, for getting something against them.
“This may be connected with north, it may be Syunik corridor, it may be the issue of building Karmir Shuka-Shushi road in Karabakh, it may also be the issue of status of Defense Army in Karabakh,” Kocharyan said.
He said the issue of captives should not be allowed to be a subject of territorial or other solutions.
“It is a very grave, extremely grave issue,” the second president said.
He also noted that the issue of Shushi and Hadrut should be settled through negotiations.
“In general being defeated in the war is a very hard thing and if you want not to face such like issues, you should not lose. You should do everything not to enter into a new war. This is the issue,” he said.
Kocharyan also stressed about serious management crisis in Armenia.
“What happened is the consequence of this crisis,” Kocharyan noted.
