CSTO to undertake necessary measures in case of escalation of situation in Armenia’s Syunik region
The CSTO is closely following the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and is ready to undertake measures envisaged by the agreement in case of its further escalation, the CSTO press service reports.
“The CSTO is closely following the development of the situation in the regions bordering Armenia’s Syunik province. Alongside the development of the situation, if necessary, actions will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Collective Security Treaty and the CSTO charter.,” the press release of the organization reads.
It also noted that CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas had phone conversations with the Armenia’s acting defense minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan and acting foreign minister Ara Aivazian.
