Putin, Pashinyan discuss situation over Karabakh on phone
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenia’s Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a phone conversation late in the evening of May 13 at the initiative of the Armenian side.
The leaders of the two countries continued discussions on the situation over Nagorno Karabakh.
According to Kremlin press service, during the exchange of ideas on the recent incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Vladimir Putin stressed the need to strictly comply with the implementation of the provisions of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021 trilateral statements of leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, and first of all in terms of strict observance of the ceasefire.
The Russian side expressed its commitment to continue active mediation efforts and maintenaning close contacts with Yerevan and Baku for in the interests if ensuring stability in the region.
The Kremlin noted that Nikol Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Russia’s president and spoke in favor of a constructive dialogue and interaction that would make it possible to resolve all issues through political and diplomatic means only.
Issues on restoration of economic and transportation and logistics links in the South Caucasus were also discussed.
