Armenian, Russian Security Council secretaries discuss possible ways of resolution of situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Armenian and Russian Security Council secretaries Armen Grigoryan and Nikolay Patrushev discussed the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border during the phone conversation.
The parties exchanged views and discussed possible ways of the resolution of the issue.
Armen Grigoryan briefed to the Russian counterpart the created situation and stressed that Armenia views it as encroachment on the sovereign territory of Armenia which is unacceptable for Armenia, consequently, the Azerbaijani armed sub-divisions must leave the territories and return to starting positions.
Grigoryan also stressed that the aspirations of the Azerbaijani side are unreasonable and that there are still maps left from the soviet period which testify that these territories belong to the Armenian side.
Saying that Armenia applies to the CSTO, Grigoryan emphasized the opportunity of using the necessary mechanisms in the sidelines of the CSTO for the soonest resolution of the issue.
Nikolay Patrushev highly assessed the restraint of the Armenian side in the issue, attaching significance to exerting all possible diplomatic efforts for its solution, adding also that the Russian side is working intensively on all the levels for the expedient solution of the issue.
