Situation on Armenian borders in Syunik, Gegharkunik provinces not settled yet – Armenia MOD
The situation on some sectors of Armenian borders in Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces has not been settled as of May 15 morning, Armenia’s Ministry of Defense reports.
“Despite the circumstance that the Azerbaijani servicemen had to leave some sectors as a result of actions undertaken by the Armenian [army] subdivisions, part of them are still in the territory of the Republic of Armenia,” the MOD said in a statement on Saturday.
The Ministry also reported that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia emphasize the need of peaceful settlement of the situation and reiterate that the encroachments on the sovereign territory of Armenia are inadmissible, and that the Azerbaijani side is obliged to return to their starting positions without preconditions.
MOD noted that the negotiations launched from May 12 will continue today.
