Moscow ready to assist Armenia, Azerbaijan in demarcation works
Russia does not see any reasons to “escalate emotions” because of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani borders, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Monday, adding that Moscow is ready to assist Yerevan and Baku in demarcation process.
“There was not a single shot, no clashes took place there. They sat and started negotiating on how to defuse the tensions. They asked us to assist, our militaries provided such assistance, arrangement has been reached. I do not see any reasons to escalate emotions in this not routine but calmly settled issue,” Lavrov said.
He said that after the incident the Azerbaijani side came up with statements explaining it with misunderstanding and absence of demarcated and delimited border.
“No one has ever dealt with it, and we offered the parties to start the works, and we are ready to assist them in this issue, providing both maps and consultation services,” Russian minister said.
