Armenia’s President urges MOD, General Staff, NSS exert strictest measures against encroachments threatening Armenia’s territorial integrity

Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian referred to the situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border where the Azerbaijani armed forces violated Armenia’s border and entered the country’s territory in Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces.

In a released statement, the president urged Armenia’s Ministry of Defense, General Staff of the Armed Forces, NSS undertake all efforts and strictest measures against the encroachments threatening the territorial integrity of Armenia and border violations.

He also stressed the importance of full usage of diplomatic arsenal.

“The reinforcement of Armenia’s international rating, boosting of cooperation with international partners and allied relations are necessity. These relations must be built on the basis of realistic and targeted agenda. It is necessary to operate the whole toolkit of both traditional and public diplomacy, involve Diaspora and use all the resources. The created situation and our working style and response must be understandable and perceivable for our international partners,” the president said in the statement.

“The public must be informed on time and correctly about the ongoing process, being convinced that it is protected and that the state, irrespective of political or other factors, carries out its functions,” the statement reads.
