Armenia's acting PM says situation on Armenian-Azerbaijani border stable but tense, works with CSTO and Russia ongoing
A consultation on 2022-2024 interim expenses draft program’s macro-economic and tax-budget circles took place today headed by Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Before passing to the discussion Pashinyan referred to the situation in Armenia’s Syunik and Gegharkunik provinces, noting that the Ministry of Defense is providing daily information to the public about the created situation.
“The situation is stable but tense, and, on the other hand, I must emphasize that it is unacceptable for us. Because our position is clear and definite – sub-divisions of Azerbaijani armed forces must leave the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia,” he said, adding that Armenian Armed Forces are carrying out tactical actions but Armenia’s position is that the situation must be resolved in diplomatic way, peacefully.
The acting PM stressed that consultations in the sidelines of the CSTO continue.
“Perhaps, the process does not proceed as expediently as we would prefer it to, but there are collective security mechanisms and we continue consistent work to operate them,” Pashinyan stressed, adding that the Armenian side will continue exerting diplomatic efforts to provide full information to the international community on the created situation and to increase the international pressure on Azerbaijan.
“Naturally, we will continue work with our strategic partner – the Russian Federation,” he said, reminding that he has also applied to Russia’s President Putin and that the consultations will continue.
