Utmost should be done to ensure security of Armenian servicemen protecting the border and population: Armenia's president to Chief of General Staff

Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian held a phone conversation with the Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan, president’s press office reports.

The Chief of the General Staff briefed to the president on the incident of capturing the 6 Armenian servicemen carrying out engineering works in Armenia’s Gegharkunik province and on the border situation.

Armenia’s president prioritized the usage of all diplomatic opportunities and the opportunities of the Armenian Armed Forces in returning the captured.

The president stressed that the utmost must be done to ensure the security and protection of rights of Armenian servicemen keeping the borderline and the Armenian population.

Noting that the provocative actions of Azerbaijan must receive the strong response of the international partners and community, the president said he will continue raising the issue during the contacts with international partners.
