Government fails implementing its positive commitments, makes inadmissible mistakes: Armenia Ombudsman on demarcation process
Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan says the main reason of the issues with the Armenian borders is that the Government does not put the rights of the bordering residents and in general human rights in the basis of discussions and decisions.
“This is why the government fails its positive commitments, makes inadmissible mistakes in guaranteeing the rights of its citizens and first of all in guaranteeing common life of bordering population,” Tatoyan wrote on Facebook.
He noted that all the issues relating to state borders should not be just discussed from political and military viewpoints, moreover agreed with the war consequences and in conditions of policy of Armenophobia carried out by the Azerbaijani authorities.
Tatoyan stressed that the rights of bordering population, normal living conditions (rights of living, property, dignified and safe life, pursuit of happiness, etc.) must be put in the basis.
He noted that if it continues the same way, the number of failures will only grow.
“We should not forget that democracy, human rights and rule of law are the international mandatory principles of delimitation and demarcation,” Tatoyan wrote.
