Kocharyan says issue of captives most sensitive, describes acting PM’s statement immoral
The issue of captives is the most sensitive, Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan said at the meeting with residents of Talin.
He said in Gyumri he met with parents of the captives.
“It is a shame, till now the people do not know how many captives we have, how many missing we have. The parents of missing are in worse situation. The worst thing is that the state does not do anything to ease the situation these people have appeared in,” Kocharyan said.
He noted the need of growing the international pressure on Azerbaijan.
“The captives are being held there to get more concessions from us. We must increase the pressure on Azerbaijan at maximum for them to understand that keeping captives there has no sense for them, that they are losing the image of their country. But in essence, nothing is being done in that direction. As soon as the issue about captives is being raised, they throw the topic to the pocket of Russians,” Kocharyan said.
The second president said it is immoral by the head of the country not to do anything in that direction and say let them stay for another two months, they will forgive us.
