CIS observers assess elections in Armenia as open, fair and objective
The observers from the CIS and CSTO have not recorded any violations during the snap parliamentary elections conducted in Armenia on June 20.
“Our common opinion is that the elections kicked off without noise and nervousness. A final collegial document has been prepared. The process has been implemented in accordance with the demands of the Electoral Code. The observers did not record any violation that could have resulted on the outcome of the elections,” Ilkhom Nematov, the head of the CIS observer mission stated at a news conference in Yerevan.
He stressed that the process took place on the high organizational level.
The head of the mission said they are in Armenia from May 31 and visited about 700 polling stations.
“We carried out our observing mission free, unbiased, without interfering into internal affairs of Armenia and based on Armenian laws,” Nematov said.
He said election commissions created all conditions for the implementation of the right of free expression of will.
To note, according to preliminary information published by Central Election Commission, Civil Contract party headed by Nikol Pashinyan received 53,92%. percent of votes and will form the majority. Second president Robert Kocharyan's "Armenia" bloc received 21,04% votes, Artur Vanetsyan's "I Have the Honor" bloc received 5,23% votes.
