Negotiations ongoing with Russia to deploy Russian border guards on Armenian-Azerbaijani border – Chief of General Staff
No final decision has been reached on deploying Russian border guards on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Artak Davtyan told the reporters today.
He said the processes are ongoing and the public will be informed after the final decision is made.
Earlier governor of Armenia's Gegharkunik province said a decision has been made to deploy Russian border guards on the border and that the Armenian and adversary's troops must pull back.
"The final decision is not just our desire, other parties too participate in the process, this is why negotiations are ongoing. It will be in a way you have mentioned but we will report after final decision and technical issues are settled," Davtyan said.
Asked whether the Azerbaijani side has expressed its consent, the Chief of the General Staff said in its territory Armenia has nothing to ask Azerbaijan about.
"The negotiations are being held with the Russian side... Our goal is to withdraw the Azerbaijani sub-divisions which appeared in our territory without clashes," Davtyan said.
