Armenia’s Human Rights Defender sends video-proof of Aliyev-Turkey’s first lady conversation about Armenian detainees to the EU highest leadership

Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has sent the undeniable video-proof of the conversation between the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Turkey’s first lady to the EU highest leadership.

The Ombudsman office reports that the footage proves that all the Armenian detainees are kept in Azerbaijan in the status of hostages – for political bargaining and trade. Consequently, all the trials of the detainees are false and the detention is prohibited punishment.

“The letters [sent by the Ombudsman with the footage] show how the Azerbaijani authorities confuse the international community, including the EU.
The letters we sent today are based on the results of the calls of the families of the detainees and our studies. They show the sufferings the Azerbaijani authorities cause them,” the office said.

The letters also particularly noted the policy of Armenophobia carried out by the Azerbaijani authorities as well as the sufferings of the Armenian people and in particular the families of the detainees as a result of political speculation of the issue.
