Nikol Pashinyan's speeches during election campaign cannot be considered violence-provoking – prosecutor
The Constitutional Court continues the examination of the application of four political forces disputing the results of the June 20 snap parliamentary elections in Armenia.
Prosecutor Karen Bisharyan stated at the court hearing that the speeches of Nikol Pashinyan, Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan and others during the election campaign in the whole cannot be considered as violence-provoking speeches.
"This position is agreed with the fact that they have talked as leaders of political parties or blocs, presented the views of their party or bloc and were under the protection of freedom of speech," Bisharyan said.
The prosecutor also said the hammer the acting PM, leader of Civil Contract party Nikol Pashinyan was taking with him during the campaign was not about violence but a sign about establishing rule of law.
"I think in this conditions it is obvious that the context of the speech does not relate to violence, perhaps to compulsion, not all compulsion is violence, compulsion may be legal," the prosecutor said.
