Members of Reviving Armenia party council are being persecuted in post-electoral Armenia, ex-governor of Syunik, member of "Hayastan" bloc Vahe Hakobyan said at a news conference on Tuesday.

He mentioned the arrests of former mayor of Armenia's Meghri Mkhitar Zakaryan and head of Kajaran community Manvel Paramazyan.

"A petition has been submitted to Central Electoral Commission to strip off Sisian community head Artur Sargsyan of immunity. Criminal persecutions are carried out against Goris mayor Arush Arushanyan as well. All this have deeper roots than it may seem. It seems a revenge, yes, there is such factor too…We assess it as political persecution,” Hakobyan said.

ARF-D member of "Armenia" bloc Ishkhan Saghatelyan said the policy of breaking the country's resistance continues.

"They are trying to isolate and remove from the rows all those forces and individuals who are the protectors of the national resistance. It is not accidental that it all takes place in Syunik and Tavush. They are removing all the best military from the army. It is not accidental that they are trying to arrest the leaders of communities who organized Syunik's self-defense. We also tie all this with the painful solutions Armenia will face in near future," Saghatelyan said.
