Armenia's Acting PM offers deploying strongpoints of Russian border guards along entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Armenia"s Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan speaking at the cabinet sitting today stated that Azerbaijan not only continues illegally staying on the territory of Armenia but is regularly undertaking provocative actions trying to discredit the CSTO system.
"Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of alleged provocations. Being member of the CSTO and assuming the presidency of the organization from September, Armenia realizes its commitment not to create security threats for the CSTO, not to engage ally countries to military actions, and I officially exclude any provocative actions by the Armenian Armed Forces," he said.
Pashinyan noted that one of the solutions to find out the truth of the mutual accusations voiced by Azerbaijan and Armenia is the deployment of CSTO Monitoring mission along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"In conditions of impossibility of implementation of such mission within the frameworks of the CSTO other international acceptable formats are fine for us," he said.
Pashinyan stated that the attempts of Azerbaijan to show that Armenia is against the process of delimitation and demarcation process has nothing to do with reality.
"We are for it, moreover we have received mandate from own people to launch such process, to establish stability and peace in the region," Pashinyan said.
The acting PM also said there is a sense in considering the issue on deploying strongpoints of Russian border guards along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border which will give an opportunity to implement delimitation and demarcation works without the risk of military clashes.
He said they are planning to discuss the issue with Russian partners.
"Our government is going to undertake all the necessary measures to ensure security, peace and stability in the region, we will act in accordance with the mandate received from citizens of Armenia," Pashinyan stressed.
